This 3-day desert adventure takes you from Errachidia to the historic city of Fes. You’ll experience the magic of the Sahara at Erg Chebbi’s golden dunes. Camel trekking at sunset creates memories to last a lifetime. You’ll sleep under starry skies in a traditional desert camp. The journey continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Wild monkeys play in ancient cedar forests along the way. You’ll also visit charming Ifrane before reaching imperial Fes. Throughout the trip, you’ll discover Berber culture, hidden oases, and breathtaking natural wonders.
Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM with pickup from your Errachidia hotel. First, you marvel at panoramic views of Ziz Valley’s emerald oasis. Palm groves stretch endlessly below the road. Next, you continue through fossil-rich Erfoud. Ancient marine treasures hide in the rocks here. Finally, you arrive in Merzouga. The golden Erg Chebbi dunes rise dramatically before you.
In the afternoon, you mount your camel for a trek. You ride across the dunes for 1.5 hours. The sunset paints the sands in fiery hues. You can even try sandboarding down the soft slopes. Afterwards, you continue to your desert camp. Mint tea awaits you upon arrival. You enjoy a traditional dinner under countless stars. Berber music fills the night air. You drift to sleep in your comfortable nomad tent.
Wake early for a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. The golden light transforms the landscape before you. After breakfast, you return to Merzouga by camel. Then, you visit Rissani’s lively market. (It’s held on Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays.) Traders enthusiastically haggle over dates and spices here.
Afterwards, you travel through Berber villages to Tinghir. Lush palm groves greet you along the way. Soon, you discover the dramatic Todra Gorge. Towering 300-meter cliffs rise on either side. You pause to walk through this natural wonder.
Following lunch, you journey through the Dades Valley. It’s known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Winding roads reveal stunning rock formations at every turn. Finally, you check into your local hotel. You spend the evening surrounded by dramatic scenery.
Depart through the Valley of Roses. Fragrant fields line your route. Next, you arrive in Ouarzazate, “Morocco’s Hollywood.” You visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. You can also explore the famous Atlas Film Studios. Afterwards, you continue to the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou. This ancient clay ksar starred in films like Gladiator.
Then, you cross the High Atlas Mountains. The route winds up to Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2,260 meters. You stop at Berber villages along the way. Scenic viewpoints offer breathtaking photo opportunities. Finally, you descend into the vibrant city of Marrakech. Your memorable journey concludes upon arrival by evening.
