Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Marrakech, crossing the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass(2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains. Stop at panoramic viewpoints to admire the rugged landscapes and traditional Berber villages.
The first highlight is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ancient ksar (fortified village) used in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore its winding alleys and learn about its fascinating history.
Continue to Ouarzazate, known as “Morocco’s Hollywood,” where you’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah and Atlas Film Studios. Then, journey through the Valley of Roses (especially beautiful in spring) before arriving at the dramatic Dades Gorge, where you’ll spend the night in a charming riad or hotel.
After breakfast, travel deeper into Morocco’s desert landscapes. Your first stop is the stunning Todgha Gorge, where 300-meter-high cliffs create a breathtaking canyon. Walk along the riverbed and take incredible photos.
Next, pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch to camels for a peaceful sunset trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
