    6-Day Morocco Tour From Tangier

Itinerary: 6-Day Morocco Tour From Tangier to Marrakech

    Day 1: Tangier → Chefchaouen

Your journey begins with pickup from Tangier (airport, port, or hotel). Travel south through the scenic Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous blue city. Spend the afternoon wandering through its enchanting blue-washed alleys, where every corner offers a perfect photo opportunity. Visit the local markets to shop for handmade wool garments and leather goods, then hike up to the Spanish Mosque for breathtaking sunset views over the town and surrounding mountains. Overnight in a charming riad nestled in the heart of the medina.

    Day 2: Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes

After breakfast, depart for the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the remarkably preserved mosaics and grand arches of this ancient city that once thrived as a Roman outpost. Continue to the imperial city of Meknes, where you’ll visit the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and the impressive Heri es-Souani granaries. Arrive in Fes by evening and check into your traditional riad, where you can relax on the rooftop terrace overlooking the illuminated medina.

    Day 3: Fes Guided Tour

Dedicate today to exploring Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest living medieval city. Your expert guide will lead you through its maze-like alleys to discover:

    • Al Quaraouiyine University, founded in 859 AD and recognized as the oldest existing university in the world
    • The vibrant Chouara Tanneries, where leather is still dyed using centuries-old techniques
    • Hidden artisan workshops producing intricate metalwork, ceramics, and textiles
    • The magnificent Royal Palace gates with their stunning brass doors
Enjoy free time in the evening to relax at your riad or explore more of the medina’s nighttime ambiance.

    Day 4: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Depart early for the Sahara Desert, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland” for its alpine architecture, and the nearby cedar forests where you might spot wild Barbary macaques.

Continue through apple orchards around Midelt before descending into the dramatic Ziz Valley, where lush palm oases contrast with rugged cliffs. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon for a sunset camel trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Your luxury desert camp awaits with comfortable tents, a gourmet dinner, and traditional Berber music under the stars.

Day 5: Merzouga → Todgha Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake early for a magical sunrise over the dunes, with the option to try sandboarding down the soft slopes. After breakfast at camp, journey to the stunning Todgha Gorge, where 300-meter-high limestone cliffs tower above a narrow riverbed.

Take time to walk through this natural wonder before continuing to Dades Valley, known for its surreal “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. Spend the night at a charming hotel perched on the valley cliffs, with panoramic views of the dramatic landscape.

Day 6: Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

Morning drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses (especially beautiful in May when the flowers bloom). Stop in Ouarzazate to visit the famous Atlas Film Studios, where many Hollywood movies were filmed. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most spectacular ksar (fortified village).

After exploring its ancient clay architecture, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), with breathtaking views at every turn. Arrive in Marrakech by early evening, where your tour concludes.
