    Itinerary: 7 Day Desert Tour From Ouarzazate to Marrakech

    Day 1: Ouarzazate → Dades Gorges  Via  Ait Ben Haddou

    Your 7-day Sahara trip begins with a pickup in Ouarzazate. First, you drive to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has starred in numerous movies. Films like Lawrence of ArabiaGladiator, and Game of Thrones were filmed here. After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou village, you continue toward Dades Gorges. Your route follows the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” through scenic landscapes. You arrive in the evening at your destination. You spend the night in a hotel or riad in Dades Gorges.


    Day 2: Dades Gorges → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Desert

    The second day begins with a delicious breakfast. Afterwards, you leave for the Todra Gorges. Here, you take a walk under 300-meter-high cliffs. Towering rock walls rise dramatically on both sides. Then, you continue your trip to Merzouga. Upon arrival, an experienced camel guide awaits you. Camels stand ready to carry you across the fabulous dunes. You ride for around half an hour to reach the camp. That evening, you spend the night with locals under the stars.


    Day 3: Full Day to Explore Merzouga Desert

    After breakfast in the camp, you trek by camel back to Merzouga. Then, your explorative day of the desert begins. You drive through the sandy landscape in a 4×4 vehicle. First, you have an opportunity to visit a nomadic family. They live close to the borders between Morocco and Algeria. They welcome you with mint tea and conversation. Afterwards, you head to Khamlia village. Local musicians perform Gnawa music for visitors. You experience their vibrant cultural traditions firsthand.


    Day 4: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Azrou → Ifrane → Fes

    After breakfast at your hotel, you start your journey to Fes around 8:30 am. First, you travel along the scenic Ziz Valley. You stop at a panoramic viewpoint for photos. Lunch awaits you in the town of Midelt. Continuing onward, you might catch a glimpse of Barbary macaques. These playful apes live in the cedar forest of Azrou. Your next destination is Ifrane. Many call it the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture. You have a stop here before heading to Fes. You arrive in the imperial city by evening.


    Day 5: Full Day to Visit Fes

    After breakfast in your riad, you begin your visitation of Fes. This is the oldest city in Morocco. It is also one of the four imperial cities. You spend most of the day in the old part of Fes. Walking through the medina’s narrow streets reveals endless discoveries. First, you visit the Royal Palace Gate. It is known for its golden doors and intricate design. Your tour includes the University of Al Quaraouiyine. This is the oldest existing university in the world.

    After lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant, you visit the famous tanneries. Colorful dye pits stretch before you. You also explore the Jewish quarter nearby. Afterwards, you return to your riad for the night.


    Day 6: Fes → Chefchaouen

    After breakfast in your riad, you drive to Chefchaouen. Your route passes through the city of Ouazzan along the way. You arrive around noon at the blue city. Then, you start exploring Chefchaouen’s charming streets. This city is known as the “blue pearl” of Morocco. It is a fabulous destination for photographers. White and blue-washed walls create endless photo opportunities. You take a walk inside the medina to enjoy the beautiful buildings. You spend the night at your hotel in this mountain retreat.


    Day 7: Chefchaouen → Casablanca → Marrakech

    After breakfast at your hotel, you head to Casablanca. Upon arrival, you visit the Hassan II Mosque. This is the largest mosque outside of Mecca. Its minaret towers above the Atlantic coast. You have lunch near the Corniche coastline. Afterwards, you continue your journey to Marrakech. Finally, your driver drops you off at the airport or your hotel.
